End of School Year

May 11, 2021

Dear Parents,

Next week is our last week of school and in some ways the year seems to have flown by. However, dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on student learning has been a major ongoing challenge and has been somewhat trying. That being said, our students, staff, and other stakeholders have risen to the occasion and have worked hard to prevent these challenges from being overly burdensome. I really want to thank you for working with your students and the school to help provide a great learning environment both in school and out of school for our kids.

Please note that Wednesday, May 19th will be our last day of school for our students. It will be a half day with our students being released at 12:30. Buses will depart shortly thereafter and they will follow the same schedule that has been used for the other half days this year. If you have any questions about this schedule, please contact our school secretary, Leah Dibben, at 775-372-5324.

We will have a field day on Monday, May 17th. We will have a wet sponge relay and a water extravaganza at the end of the field day, so you may want to send a towel with your students on Monday.

We also will have our final Family Engagement Meeting at our school in Sher Miller’s room at 5:30 PM on Tuesday, May 18th. We will review our Spring NWEA MAPS data results at this meeting as well. All parents are invited to attend in person.

I wish you and your students a safe, enjoyable, and relaxing summer.

Sincerely,

Chuck Fannin, Principal
Amargosa Valley School
